All ten of the fastest-growing Mexican export products posted a triple digit gain in value from 2010 to 2014, with increases ranging from 126.1% for Mexico’s meat to 630.7% for railway and tram equipment.

Overall, Mexican exports rose 33.3% over the 5-year period.

Listed below in descending order are the fastest-growing Mexican export products. Shown within parentheses is the percentage increase in a product category’s exports from 2010 to 2014.

  1. Railway, tram equipment: Up by 630.7% since 2010 (US$3,843,818,000)
  2. Furskins and artificial fur: Up by 326.7% ($2,236,000)
  3. Other base metals: Up by 229.5% ($233,871,000)
  4. Cork: Up by 211.6% ($2,091,000)
  5. Silk: Up by 173.9% ($126,000)
  6. Cereals: Up by 151.4% ($622,255,000)
  7. Nickel: Up by 133.2% ($63,834,000)
  8. Umbrellas, walking-sticks: Up by 126.7% ($2,750,000)
  9. Ores, slag, ash: Up by 126.4% ($4,382,330,000)
  10. Meat: Up by 126.1% ($1,437,335,000)

Freight carriers and locomotives were the major factors behind Mexico’s fastest-growing export product category, railway and tram equipment.

Sales of exported furskin clothing was the top gainer for the second-place furskins and artificial fur category.

Padlocks, locks and keys led the other base metals category to its third-place finish.

Articles of natural cork also posted significant sales increases for Mexican exporters.
