Global exports of full wigs made from synthetic textile materials totaled US$452.1 million in 2017, up by 6.2% over the five-year period starting in 2013 but down by -1% from 2016 to 2017.

Worldwide, exported synthetic beards, eyelashes and similar items were valued at $833.2 million for 2017. That dollar amount reflects a 37.9% gain compared to 2013 and a 10.6% year-over-year uptick from 2016 to 2017.

International sales of wigs, beards, eyelashes and similar items made from human hair were worth even more at $1.2 billion in 2017, albeit -32.4% less than the comparable metric for 2013 and a -15.8% drop from 2016 to 2017.

Regarding items made from animal hair encompassing wigs, beards and eyelashes, total exports equaled $1.3 billion during 2017. The latter amount benefits from a 20.4% increase since 2013 and a 15.2% year-over-year gain.
