
The latest available country-specific data from 2018 shows that 88.1% of products exported from Albania were bought by importers in: Italy (48% of the global total), Serbia (11.3%), Spain (7.8%), Germany (4.3%), Greece (4.2%), North Macedonia (2.8%), China (1.8%), Montenegro (also 1.8%), United States (1.7%), Romania (1.5%), Czech Republic (also 1.5%) and the Netherlands (1.3%).
From a continental perspective, 93.8% of Albania’s exports by value were delivered to fellow European countries while 3.9% were sold to importers in Asia. Albania shipped another 1.8% worth of goods to North America. Smaller percentages went to Africa (0.3%), Oceania led by Marshall Islands (0.1%), and Latin America excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean (0.05%).

Ores, slag and ash represents the fastest grower among the top 10 export categories, up by 32.4% from 2018 to 2019. In second place for improving export sales was knitted or crocheted clothing and accessories via a 13.6% gain. Albania’s shipments of footwear posted the third-fastest gain in value up by 11.9%.
The leading decliner among Albania’s top 10 export categories was iron and steel thanks to a -35.8% annual drop.
At the more granular four-digit Harmonized Tariff System code level, leather footwear represents Albania’s most valuable exported product at 12.5% of the country’s total. In second place were insoles and heel cushions (8.5%) trailed by crude oil (7.8%), iron ferroalloys (4.6%), unknitted and non-crocheted men’s suits and trousers (4.2%), unknitted and non-crocheted women’s clothing (2.7%), electrical energy (2.6%), chromium ores and concentrates (2.4%), knitted or crocheted t-shirts and vests (2%), knitted or crocheted women’s clothing (1.8%) then paper containers and cellulose wadding (1.7%).
