Year over year, the value of globally exported platinum shrank by -13.5% compared to $50.3 billion starting from 2023.
The 5 biggest exporters of platinum are the South Africa, United Kingdom, United States of America, Russia and Hong Kong. Collectively, that leading group of top platinum sellers on international markets generated nearly two-thirds (64.4%) of the world’s platinum exported during 2024.
Among continents, suppliers in European countries sold the highest dollar worth of exported platinum during 2024 with shipments valued at $19 billion or 43.8% of the global total. In second place were fast-growing exporters located in Africa at 23.3% while 20.4% of worldwide platinum shipments originated from Asia. Another 12.2% worth came from sellers in North America.
Tinier percentages arrived from suppliers in Latin America (0.2%) excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean, and Oceania’s Australia and New Zealand (0.1%).
