The 5 biggest exporters of lead by value are Australia, South Korea, United Kingdom, Germany, and Canada. Combined, that quintet of leading international suppliers generated over one-third (35.7%) of overall sales for exported lead during 2021.
Breaking down all lead sold on international markets into its product subcategories, the top seller was unwrought lead at 84.6% of the global total. In second place was lead waste and scrap (7.2%) trailed by miscellaneous articles made from lead (5%), then lead plates, sheets, strips, foil, powders and flakes (3.2%).
Among continents, European countries sold the highest dollar worth of exported lead during 2021 with shipments valued at $2.5 billion or 28.1% of the overall total. In second place were exporters in Asia at 22.1% while 7.8% of worldwide lead shipments originated from North America, with 7.5% coming from Oceania mostly Australia.
Tinier percentages came from Latin America (1.81%) excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean, then Africa (1.77%).
