Year over year, globally exported strawberries accelerated by 19.5% from $2.9 billion for 2020.
Fresh strawberries accounted for $3.5 billion worth of worldwide exports or 72% of the overall total. That percentage compares to 71.1% for 2020 but 73.5% in 2017.
Exported frozen strawberries represent $1.4 billion or the remaining 28% of the global sum.
Overall, the value of globally exported fresh strawberries increased in value by 21% since 2020 when fresh strawberries exports were valued at $2.9 billion. Shipments of frozen strawberries appreciated at a slightly lesser pace, up by 16% from $1.2 billion for 2020.
Renown for its bright red color, juicy texture, sweetness and distinct aroma, a strawberry is a popular fruit eaten raw or consumed in prepared foods and drinks including puddings, jams, pies, ice cream, milkshakes and juices.
